After developing the script, storyboard, and shot list, Prima and I have started on the production by first, recruiting actors. This was not an easy process, as Prima had to send out an email to our close peers regarding the list of characters that needed to be played, the requirements of the actors, a summary of the plot, and wether they were available to shoot. Due to the production requiring participation almost every day in the week and busy schedules provided from other subjects as well, most of our peers from grade 10 were not able to participate. Luckily, Prima and I were able to find people who were willing to take the roles. Consequently, Prima and I started to brainstorm on the schedule that would be suitable for every cast in the production. Prima further developed this into a neatly organized time slot, which is shown below.
Prima took the role of being the cinematographer during the first day of shooting, as I was not available during that time. She had first took shots of the hallway scene as planned in her shot list. However, as I came back after completing my schedules, I started to position myself as the main cinematographer. This means that I took all of the shots except the first hallway scene that was done by Prima. Initially I made effort to have the shots satisfy both my storyboard and Prima's shot list but decided to go on with my storyboard instead, as I thought that would be more efficient for its direct visualization of the styles and requirements of the shots. During the shooting, there were few obstacles that we had to encounter. For instance, when I was filming the bathroom scene with Charlie's actor Iman during lunch, I had to constantly pause the production whenever people came in and looked at the camera. This was because the bathroom scene was supposed to only have Charlie in the bathroom, which stressed her struggles in high school. On Friday, I had brought Iman and Prima to my house so we could shoot the bedroom scene at my room. At the set, I had difficulties on dealing with the amount of light in my room. I tried to fix this situation by drawing up the curtains in the room, which gave an orange tone to the footages due to the curtain's shade. I found this unexpected result favorable, but the footages were a bit dark. After finishing the bedroom scene, we went out to the apartment gardens that was next to my house to shoot the scene where Charlie discovered a voodoo doll. In this scene, we initially planned to have Charlie's dog find the voodoo doll. However, we chose not to as my dog did not show the will to cooperate, and Iman seemed to disapprove (more of dislike) my dog because of his constant barking (which is not his fault at all, as it is his role to do so to scare away strangers from the house, and a role that I highly encourage him to do). After finishing the shooting, I had uploaded the shots on a google drive shared with Prima so both of us could edit.
