During the editing, I've tried to regulate the tones of the shots into the same level. A difference from Prima's edit would be that I've cut out the scene where Charlie stood up after being pushed and gathered her stuffs. I deleted this because the shot was not in good quality, and didn't add much relevance to the overall plot. Instead, I immediately connected this to the opening title, as I've thought that the action of the shot right before the title gave more impact. The title proceeds to the bathroom scene, where the importance of the scene lied on its showing of a victim of school bullying. The tone that I wanted in this scene was relating to emotions of distraught and loneliness. I tried to create this by adding sounds of water droplets. As I didn't have enough of those sounds in the footages, I've used the water dropping sound from iMovie instead.
Hallway scene: Bully 1 and 2 laugh at Charlie
One of my main concerns during the editing was the background noise in the footages. As the background noises were different in each footages, it didn't sound so well when the shots were in a sequence. I initially thought of using the background noise reducer device in iMovie but dropped that idea because during my prior editings, I've learnt that that method would damage the dialogues as well. I've fixed this problem by reducing the sound of all footages and adding a soundtrack. This covered the problem of the background noise. I've also replaced audios of certain footages with sound effects provided in iMovie. For instance, in the scene where Charlie walks around the garden and finds the voodoo doll the noise of the wind was too loud. I solved this by eliminating the footage's audio and adding a sound effect of footsteps.
Final Reflection
Overall, I would describe the production process as well planned, and well followed. Because we've made a clear shooting schedule with both the shot list and storyboard prepared, it was easy to go along with the production plan and get the shooting done in time. We were well organized, and we never panicked about not being able to complete the production in time. One aspect that should be improved would be the stability of shots. I deliberately didn't use the tripod because I underestimated the importance of stability. However, as I saw the footages as during the editing I've realized that the shaking shots were a bit disturbing. Other than this, I believe that the production went without any problem.
